Locking a gun:

Easier than 1-2-3

We don’t need to rely on legislation to enact real change.
Preventing the next school shooting can start right at home.

Step 1: Buy a Lock.

Barrel and trigger locks are inexpensive, easy to use, and many are a universal fit. Buy them now.

Step 2: lock it up.

Keep a lock on your gun at all times, even if you think it’s out of reach. Unlocked guns find their way into the wrong hands all the time.

Step 3: Spread the word.

Normalize talking about gun safety. The more people who pledge to lock their guns, the safer your community will be.

There are more ways
to secure a firearm.

— Caitlin, Teacher

Gun violence is an epidemic that is preventable. No other country has over 100 deaths per day by guns.
— Cheryl, Teacher
Our students are watching us. They have lived their whole lives under the threat of gun violence and they see our nation doing nothing.
— Margaret, Teacher
Gun violence is a hideous epidemic and a preventable one.
— Kate, Teacher
At this rate I may be next, and I want to do what I can to ensure I’m not.

about teachers unify

Teachers Unify to End Gun Violence is a grassroots movement of educators and school staff across America who are raising their voices to demand safety from gun violence in our communities. By “educators” we mean all school folks current/retired/former who support, guide, teach children, and keep them safe.

Teachers Unify was founded by three public school teachers and American Federation of Teachers (AFT) members: Abbey Clements, Sarah Lerner, and Sari Beth Rosenberg. Two of the co-founders survived two of the worst of America’s school shootings – Sandy Hook Elementary School, Newtown, CT, in 2012 (Abbey) and Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Parkland, FL, in 2018 (Sarah). With over 75 years of teaching experience among them, the founders intend Teachers Unify to fill a gap in the national dialogue around gun violence that has too long excluded teachers.
